While trying to update my brother printer (DCP-8080DN) firmware, the java program asks for a admin password, and says that it could only have been altered by a BRadmin program, otherwise the default would be 'access'.

On the Standard TCP/IP Printer Port Wizard, click Next. Type the IP address of your Brother machine in the field labeled Printer Name or IP Address. - If you receive a window stating: 'Completing the Add Standard TCP/IP Printer Port Wizard', then click Finish. Go to step k. Procedures for updating the printer firmware (for a network-connected printer / Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows 8.1) To update the printer firmware, follow the steps below.

of course, if i am here, the default 'access' was not accepted. And i bought this printer new a long time ago, and have never touched the firmware or even heard of a bradmin program until now.

Jun 30, 2010  On a Windows 7 32-bit client computer, follow these steps: Click Start, and then open Print Management. Right-click Print Servers, and then click Add/Remove Servers. Type the UNC name of the Windows Server 2003 print server. Click Add to List, and then click OK. Note It may take several minutes before data on the remote. Windows server 2003 x64. Jun 01, 2010  The server is a Windows Server 2003 server not an R2. On our test network, i performed the upgrade to R2 and then i was able to load 64 bit drivers. I was able to load the Universal 6 drivers (5.0) and then load the Universal 6 drivers (5.1) for the windows 7 support. May 29, 2014  Sometime ago, I was tasked with installing both the 32-bit and 64-bit drivers since we recently started installing Windows 7 64-bit machines. It was not easy and very frustrating. If you have HP printers, go to their website and download the Universal Print Drivers (UPD), both 32-bit and 64-bit.

Is there any way to see the current password on the panel? if not, would a factory reset via the menu restore the password to the default? if not, what will?

It looks like you might be able to reset to factory settings via the control panel on the device as well.

From Brother's FAQ:

HP Laserjet M1132 MFP driver Windows 10, Windows 8.1, 8 Windows 7, XP and macOS 10.12 Sierra / Mac OS X. Download and install scanner and printer drivers.

Via the control panel (only for network ready models)

  1. Make sure the machine is not operating, then disconnect all the cables from the machine (except power cable).
  2. Press the Menu or Menu/Set key on the control panel.
  3. Press up or down navigation key to select LAN or Network and press Set, Menu/Set or OK.
  4. Press up or down navigation key to select Factory Reset or Network Reset and press Set, Menu/Set or OK.
  5. Select Reset.
  6. Select Yes.
  7. The machine will re-start, re-connect cables once this is complete.

Firmware Update Lg Phone Not Working

I spent many hours doing a variety of factory resets and trying the password above, 'access'. Apparently, Brother pushed out a firmware update recently which changed the default password on many devices to 'initpass'. So, if you are locked out of the web interface give this a try.

  8. When the firmware update is complete, click the Finish button.

  9. When you see a completion message, click the OK button and close the Epson Software Updater utility.
